Conrail Track Workers Strike Over Safety

PHILADELPHIA — Workers who maintain track for the Conrail freight railway system went on strike Friday to protest safety conditions, hobbling some freight traffic in the Northeast and Midwest.
Company officials plan to seek a back-to-work order, Conrail spokesman Christopher Mykrantz said.
