THOUSAND OAKS : Gunshots Fired During Party, Authorities Say
- Share via
A group of young men who tried to crash a birthday party in Thousand Oaks may have fired four gunshots into a truck parked in the driveway after being asked to leave, law enforcement officials said.
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies answered a call of a large party disturbing the peace 1200 block of Sheffield Place about 9:30 p.m. Friday. Witnesses told deputies that three men tried to crash the party and shouted what they believed to be gang slogans.
“Apparently the people asked to leave had some gang affiliations,” Sgt. Terry Hughes said. The party hosts said they thought the men threw some firecrackers and left. But about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies were called back to the Thousand Oaks house after the resident found four bullet holes in his truck.
Sheriff’s officials suspect that what the witnesses thought were firecrackers were actually gunshots.
