* Thomas Witty has joined Viratek Inc., the Costa Mesa drug development company, as director of diagnostic research. Witty’s work will focus on developing diagnostic tests for genetic diseases. Witty was most recently with Biocircuits Corp. in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also worked for Sanofi, a French pharmaceutical company affiliated with the Pasteur Institute; Becton Dickinson, a medical manufacturing company, and Micromedic, the former diagnostic division of Rohm and Haas, later purchased by ICN Pharmaceuticals, Viratek’s majority stockholder.
