Brea’s McConnell Wins Scratch Main Event

COSTA MESA — Shawn McConnell of Brea won the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was second, Charlie Venegas of San Bernardino third and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa fourth.

Jason Chism of Westminster won the eight-lap handicap main event. McConnell was second, Ed Castro of Ojai was third, Robert Pfetzing of Tustin fourth and Doug Nicol of Palos Verdes fifth.
