ATHENS — The Greek Parliament voted Thursday to place former conservative prime minister Constantine Mitsotakis on trial for his alleged role in a major phone-tapping scandal.
The 300-seat body voted 163-6 to lift Mitsotakis’ parliamentary immunity and ordered him to be tried on charges in connection with a scheme to wiretap dozens of political opponents and journalists from 1988 to 1991.
A 13-member special court, made up of Supreme Court judges, will be formed to try him.
