Mission Energy Co.: The company’s first power plant in Florida begins commercial operation today, a month ahead of schedule.
The plant, a 150-megawatt, gas-fired cogeneration facility in Polk County, will sell electricity to Florida Power Corp. and steam to Coca-Cola Foods and Todhunter International Inc.
The plant is owned by the Auburndale Power Partners Ltd. Partnership, which is owned 50% by Mission Energy, which will operate it through a subsidiary.
Mission Energy’s investments include 42 projects in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Mission Energy is an Irvine-based subsidiary of SCEcorp, which also owns Southern California Edison.
