Lou Roe of Massachusetts scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures as the U.S. men’s basketball team beat Finland, 99-81, in a Goodwill Games exhibition at Helsinki.
Duke’s Cherokee Parks, a former Marina standout, had four points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures for the U.S. team were Arizona’s Damon Stoudamire, who had 15; Michigan State’s Shawn Respert, 14; Indiana’s Alan Henderson, 12; and Wisconsin’s Michael Finley, 10.
The U.S. team, coached by USC’s George Raveling, begins play in the Goodwill Games on Saturday against Argentina.
