Terra to Acquire Agricultural Minerals: Terra Industries Inc. said it will buy Agricultural Minerals & Chemicals Inc. for $400 million, to become one of the largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers in North America. Under the definitive agreement, the Tulsa, Okla.-based company will buy Agricultural Minerals’ stock with $50 million in cash, $100 million in new common stock and $250 million of short- and long-term debt. Agricultural Minerals, a major producer of nitrogen fertilizer products and methanol, is owned by shareholders that include Morgan Stanley Leveraged Equity Fund II and Transammonia Inc.
