Delta Taps AT&T; for Computer Operations: The carrier hired AT&T; Corp.’s computer subsidiary to run many of its computer operations, part of a cost-cutting program at the nation’s third-largest airline, sources said. The multibillion-dollar deal, to be formally announced today, represents the first major computer services contract for AT&T;’s Global Information Solutions division, formerly NCR Corp. It is also makes Delta Air Lines the biggest airline to turn over much of its computer systems to another company. Under the arrangement, AT&T; will run Delta’s administrative computers--those used for accounting, payroll and other functions.
