Police Chief Daryl Wicker is recuperating at home from a recent minor heart attack and will be back at work soon, City Manager Darrell Essex said.
In a report to the City Council Monday night, Essex said Wicker is “doing quite well” after heart-related chest pains he suffered while visiting in Riverside County Aug. 12. Wicker, 48, initially was hospitalized in Sun City and then was transferred to St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton.
The city manager told the council that Wicker did not have to undergo heart surgery and is now resting at home for the next two weeks.
Council members said they were pleased at the good news about the chief’s quick recovery. They also noted that there has been an outpouring of concern and sympathy for Wicker from many residents in Cypress and in surrounding communities.
