Letters to Voices : Mixed Couples and Their Children
- Share via
Thank you for your article, “Mixed Couples: What Are the Issues You Have to Deal With?” (Aug. 1). I also believe that much fear and hostility can be avoided by respect and attention given to them.
I am 71 and the daughter of a Jewish Polish father from Vienna and a Catholic Austrian mother.
To be of mixed race nationality or religion requires enough of sorting out and awareness of values at any time. But to be there at a time of “pure race consciousness” (during the rise of the Nazis to power) is almost too much for a young person. It was a no-man’s land created by rejection on all sides.
You can understand how my heart goes out to the children of mixed races: May they experience acceptance as members of the human family of this world.
