SOUTH LOS ANGELES : Redevelopment Plan to Be Weighed
- Share via
South-Central residents are encouraged to attend a Community Redevelopment Agency meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at New Hope Baptist Church, 5200 S. Central Ave.
The Council District 9 Community Advisory Committee meeting will consider approval of a preliminary plan to establish a redevelopment project in a 5,600-acre area. The project area is bounded by the Santa Monica Freeway on the north, 84th Street on the south, Alameda and Central avenues on the east and roughly Vermont Avenue on the west.
The committee recommended creation of the redevelopment project to help rebuild the parts of Council District 9 that were damaged during the spring 1992 riots and January’s Northridge quake.
Councilwoman Rita Walters is scheduled to attend the meeting.
