Digital Theater Signs Contract With Carmike
- Share via
Digital Theater Systems, a Westlake Village-based supplier of digital sound systems for movie theaters, will provide theater-chain giant Carmike Cinemas with 300 DTS sound units under a far-reaching agreement announced by the two companies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Carmike will buy 300 of the digital sound systems, to be installed immediately. It has also committed to purchase DTS units for all new screens it builds over the next five years, starting with a minimum of 150 screens in 1995. Carmike will also continue to buy DTS units to install in its existing multiplexes, with the goal of placing the sound systems on all 1,900 screens in the chain.
