RESTAURANTS AND RETAIL : Titan Stadium Concessions Area to Be Dedicated to Late Carl’s Jr. Executive

Compiled by Greg Johnson, Times staff writer

The late Donald F. Karcher will be honored by Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 28 during half-time of a high school football game at the university’s Titan Stadium. The 7 p.m. game features Servite and Saddleback high schools.

Karcher, a long-time Carl’s Jr. executive and brother of chain founder Carl N. Karcher, died of cancer in 1992. Karcher was posthumously awarded an honorary doctorate by the Cal State system in late 1992. And, on Oct. 28, the university will dedicate the Titan Stadium concessions area to Karcher, a long-time Titan booster.

“He’d made several generous donations over the years for the stadium and student scholarships,” said university spokeswoman Paula Sellick. “It’s interesting because the university has its own Carl’s Jr. franchise and Carl’s Jr. does sell food through the stadium concessions area.”
