A 22-year-old accused of fatally shooting a Pacoima man last month has been arrested in Fresno for the allegedly gang-related crime, Los Angeles police said Monday.
Aaron Phillips of Fresno was arrested Friday after he went to a scheduled meeting with his parole officer in the San Joaquin Valley city, said LAPD Detective Frank Bishop.
Phillips is being held on suspicion of murder in the Sept. 26 slaying of Eric Blair, 27, police said.
Blair and a group of men were talking outside a house at 12150 Garber St. in Pacoima when a gunman shot at them, striking Blair, police said.
Witnesses later identified Phillips as the gunman, police said. Phillips disappeared after the shooting, but police now believe that was when he moved from Lake View Terrace to Fresno, Bishop said.
Investigators said Phillips is a member of the Bloods street gang and that the men Blair was with during the shooting were also Bloods. There is no evidence that Blair was a gang member, police said.
Philips was being held Monday in Fresno County Jail without bail.
