NEWPORT BEACH — A 25-year-old shipyard worker fell to his death Monday, apparently after losing his balance on scaffolding, authorities said.
Pablo Najera of Placentia suffered massive skull fractures about 4:15 p.m. when he fell nine feet and landed on his head while working on a 45-foot fishing yacht at Lido Shipyard, 1010 Shipyard Way, said Rick McAnally, a senior deputy coroner. Najera was dead on arrival at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.
The coroner’s office and police are still investigating the incident, but do not suspect foul play.
