Driver Dies When Truck Hits Pole

PALMDALE — A 72-year-old man was killed after his pickup truck struck a power pole--knocking out electricity to several hundred homes in east Palmdale, authorities said Thursday.
Joseph Aguilar of Rosamond was driving his truck east on Avenue S near 42nd Street East at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when his truck hit the pole, Sheriff’s Lt. Terry Lewis said.
Aguilar, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck and killed instantly, Lewis said.
The accident cut power to about 2,400 homes on Palmdale’s east side for about an hour, a Southern California Edison spokeswoman said.
