A mother and four children are recovering from injuries sustained when their van collided with a car Thursday afternoon, UCI Medical Center officials said Friday.
Laurie K. Reed, 27, of Huntington Beach and her 5-year-old daughter, Jessie, are listed in good condition, while Cathy, 9, is listed in fair condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Reed’s other two children who were injured in the accident--an infant and a 3-year-old--were treated and released to their father Thursday night, said Lorraine Neher, a hospital spokeswoman.
Witnesses told police that Reed was driving a Volkswagen van eastbound on Warner Avenue when she ran a red light at Springdale Street, hitting a Camaro driven by Ryan Benz of Huntington Beach, according to Mike Corcoran of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Benz was taken to Huntington Beach Medical Center, but a hospital spokeswoman said he was released that same night.
The children were not wearing seat belts. No citations were issued, but police are still investigating, Corcoran said.
