Blyleven Quits as Angel Coach

Bert Blyleven, who was hired in October to be the Angels’ Class A pitching coach at Cedar Rapids, abruptly resigned and today will become the director of sports ministry at his church.
“This just came up,” Blyleven said. “I know the Angels were surprised, but this is God’s way of telling me I shouldn’t leave.”
Blyleven said he will work with the Crystal Cathedral’s youth and organize recreational sports.
“I still eventually want to manage in the minor leagues, and one day go to the major league level but not now,” Blyleven said.
