Teresa Moorman had 12 kills and 15 digs as Kennedy High upset third-seeded Bell, 15-8, 4-15, 12-15, 15-12, 15-13 in the first round of the City Section 4-A Division girls volleyball playoffs Monday at Bell. Christine Thach added 11 kills and Kelly Samuel four aces for No. 14 seed Kennedy (8-5), the North Valley League champion.
In other City Section first-round girls volleyball matches:
Chatsworth d. Narbonne, 15-3, 15-3, 15-3--Jennifer Joseph had 14 kills and Karlo Campo had 33 assists to lead the host Chancellors (9-3) in a 4-A Division match.
Van Nuys d. University 15-2, 15-7, 15-5--Erika Alvarez had 12 kills and Connie Chae added eight kills and 20 assists to lead the seventh-seeded Wolves (12-0) in a 4-A Division match.
Canoga Park d. Belmont, 15-0, 15-9, 15-3--Gina Lerma had six kills and Claudia Castandena had 10 assists to lead the host Hunters (10-4) in a 3-A Division match.
Poly d. Bravo Magnet, 15-12, 15-6, 15-10--Donna Farraj had 20 kills and six blocks for the Parrots (9-5) in a 3-A Division match at Poly.
GIRLS TENNIS
Taft 7, North Hollywood 0--Julia Feldman, Ravid Levy, Alicia Whelan and Marissa Parker dropped six games combined in singles play to lead the top-seeded Toreadors in a City Section 4-A first-round match.
Taft (14-0) plays the winner of University-Van Nuys.
Granada Hills 4, Hamilton 3--The Highlanders (12-3) won all three doubles matches on their way to a first-round victory in the City Section 4-A playoffs.
