Fishing season begins this month at Irvine Lake.
Park officials have spent the last week stocking the lake with more than 10,000 pounds of trout.
The majority of county fishing licenses are issued by the end of spring. Listed at right are the number of fishing licenses issued over the past few years.

If you’ve been feeling a bit depressed lately, you may want to attend “Practical Approaches for Depression, Anxiety, Panic and Other Problems,” a lecture scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring psychiatrist Dr. Aaron T. Beck at UC Irvine.
Beck has been called one of the seven most influential psychotherapists of the 20th Century, according to UCI officials. He will discuss research on treating depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, panic, phobias and other problems. Admission is $20. Information: (714) 824-1010.
