Nuccitelli Carries Monroe, 35-6

NORTH HILLS — Nick Nuccitelli rushed for 209 yards in 27 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Monroe High to a 35-6 victory over Gardena on Friday in the first round of the City Section 3-A Division playoffs.
Nuccitelli, who played in the fourth quarter after suffering a fractured right hand, scored on runs of one yard and four yards. His shorter run started a decisive 21-point second quarter.
He has 1,642 yards rushing this season.
Jesse Jones of Monroe (6-5) rushed for 134 yards in 16 carries and scored twice.
The Vikings, who lead the area in rushing, amassed 437 yards on the ground. They threw only one pass in the game.
For Gardena (3-7-1), Ray Madden gained 63 yards in 11 carries.
In Wednesday’s quarterfinals, Monroe will play Birmingham, which defeated Reseda, 22-6.
