Royal High School Principal Michael McConahey announced his resignation this week. He will leave the Simi Valley school at the end of the year.
“I’ve been very grateful for the experience,” he said. “I’ve worked with a terrific staff and a great community and wonderful kids.”
An educator for 27 years, McConahey said he will return to the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he worked for 25 years.
McConahey was an assistant principal at Kennedy High School in Granada Hills before coming to Ventura County two years ago during a leave of absence.
McConahey said his replacement has not been chosen.
