Airlines to Raise Denver Fares: United Airlines said it will raise ticket prices by $20 on all flights starting or ending in Denver to offset the cost of the city’s new airport. American and Continental airlines said they would match the fare hike. United said it had to raise ticket prices to cover at least $210 million in annual rents, fees and costs it will pay at Denver International Airport. The price increase will take effect after March 6, providing that the airport opens before then, United sales manager Tom Healy said. The $4.2-billion airport is scheduled to open on Feb. 28.
