MANHATTAN BEACH : Meeting Will Focus on Dog-Park Fund Raising
- Share via
Residents who want to create a local dog park plan to meet Wednesday to plan fund-raising activities.
No site has been selected and the plan has yet to receive city approval, but about 160 residents have expressed interest in creating a park specifically for dogs, said Idris Al-Aboudi, city recreation manager.
Proponents hope to model the park after one in Redondo Beach. There, dogs are allowed to run free within a large, fenced-in area.
The park’s proponents plan to form a nonprofit association to raise money to pay for liability insurance and park facilities. They hope to make a proposal to the city in the next several months.
The group is considering asking the city to use a strip of land between Valley Drive and Ardmore Avenue near Sepulveda Boulevard.
The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at Joslyn Community Center, 1601 Valley Drive.
