Cal Lutheran’s Orologas Dominates Whittier
Evi Orologas had 24 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots as Cal Lutheran defeated visiting Whittier, 121-67, in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Friday night.
Melissa Wood added 23 points and 10 assists for Cal Lutheran (19-0, 7-0 in conference play), which posted its school-record 21st consecutive victory since last season.
Cal Lutheran shot 56.0% (47 of 84), including 69.2% (27 of 39) in the second half.
BASEBALL
Oxnard 2, Citrus 1; Rio Hondo 7, Oxnard 6--Jake Spahr tripled to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, then scored on Ricardo Garcia’s fielder’s choice to give Oxnard the victory over Citrus in the opening round of the Citrus-Rio Hondo tournament.
David Vicari (1-0) pitched two innings of hitless relief, striking out two.
Andy Wilson and Chuck Harrington each had three hits, and Adam Basua collected two for Oxnard (1-1) in the loss to Rio Hondo.
