STANTON — A love triangle turned tragic Saturday morning when a woman’s ex-boyfriend shot and killed her new boyfriend at her apartment, police said.
Arias Maria Garcia’s estranged live-in lover, whom police declined to identify, arrived at her Court Street apartment about 11 a.m. Saturday to pick up their child for the day, sheriff’s Lt. Rex Hatch said. Garcia, 21, told police that her ex-boyfriend was angry to find her new beau at the apartment.
“Apparently (the two men) got in an argument,” Hatch said. “The argument moved out to the balcony. She heard the argument, she came out, and saw her ex-boyfriend pull a handgun from his waistband. She said he fired three shots.”
Hatch said at least one of the bullets hit the victim, who died at the scene. Police declined to identify the man pending notification of his family.
The gunman fled the scene and remained at large Saturday.
