Gish Biomedical: The Irvine manufacturer of surgical products reported a 54% profit increase for its second fiscal quarter. Earnings for the three months ended Dec. 31 was $413,100, or 13 cents a share, up from $267,400, or 9 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31 were up 2% to $5.4 million from $5.3 million. For the first half, the company’s profit was up 53% to $809,900, or 26 cents a share, from earnings of $530,600, or 17 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Six-month sales rose 5% to $10.8 million from $10.3 million.
