BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Chatsworth Ekes Out West Valley Championship

Chatsworth High held off a late Kennedy rally to record a 62-60 victory and clinch the West Valley League championship Wednesday at Chatsworth.
The victory was sealed when Eddie Miller of Chatsworth (18-4, 9-0) rebounded a missed free throw with four seconds to play.
Jelani Janisse scored 27 points for Kennedy (14-7, 6-3), which rallied from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Harvard-Westlake 71, Chaminade 57--Jarron Collins made all 10 of his shots and scored 21 points as the Wolverines (23-2, 11-1) clinched their first Mission League championship in their third year in the league. Torey Ellis and Mike Yang each scored 15 for Chaminade (13-9, 5-6).
Simi Valley 61, Royal 58--The Pioneers (19-4, 9-4) trailed throughout, but outscored the Highlanders, 27-18, in the fourth quarter to win a Marmonte League game.
Anthony Tauriello had 18 points and 11 assists for Simi Valley. Ryan Nielsen scored 17 points for Royal (15-7, 9-4).
Thousand Oaks 67, Newbury Park 60--Jeremiah Nesbitt led the Lancers (13-12, 7-6) with 17 points in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.
Poly 74, Sylmar 63--Polo Gonzalez had 18 points and 18 assists, and Jaime Cerna had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Poly in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
Canoga Park 102, Van Nuys 88--Ryan Sylva scored 37 points on 16-of-20 shooting. Joey Troung scored 19 points and had 10 assists for Canoga Park (10-10, 6-3). Kris Hurdle scored 21 points for Van Nuys (8-13, 2-7).
Cleveland 65, Taft 57--James Brignac scored 25 points and Donald Holt added 19 for the Cavaliers (7-14, 5-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Taft. Colin Jamerson scored 16 for Taft.
Notre Dame 74, Loyola 65--Tommy Zapata scored 22 points and Collin Plume added 17 for the Knights (19-6, 9-2) in a Mission League game at Loyola.
Birmingham 40, San Fernando 24--David Redmond had 15 points for the Braves (13-8, 7-2), who clinched the Northwest Valley League championship last week.
El Camino Real 63, Granada Hills 58--Cameron Henderson had 18 points and 19 rebounds for the Conquistadors (9-12, 4-1) in a Northwest Valley game.
Hueneme 73, Rio Mesa 49--Aaron Cropper had 20 points and 21 rebounds for Hueneme (9-13, 5-8). George Jones added 23 points. Cory Wilson scored 12 for Rio Mesa (3-18, 1-12).
Crespi 85, St. Francis 77--Gianandrea Marcaccini scored 34 points and had nine rebounds for the Celts (10-13, 3-8) in a Mission League game. Raul Lepe had 29 points for St. Francis (10-11, 2-9).
St. Genevieve 74, Murphy 73--Randy Iaccino scored 27 points, including two free throws with 20 seconds left to hand Murphy (18-6, 10-1) its first Santa Fe League setback.
