The only down side to the Dodgers’ 1988 World Series victory was that it gave Fred Claire more credibility than he deserves. I’m beginning to feel the same way about the 1993 Kings’ run at the Stanley Cup with Barry Melrose. Because Melrose took the Kings to the threshold of winning it all in his first season, management has chosen to sink or swim with his philosophy.
Better call a lifeguard.
