OXNARD : IRS Office Struck by Apparent Arson
- Share via
An unknown assailant broke a glass door at the Internal Revenue Service’s Oxnard office early Monday and threw a flaming object into the building, igniting a small fire that burned itself out, authorities said.
The apparent arson, which occurred about 7 a.m. at the IRS office at Financial Square in Oxnard, blackened a small area of a rug, police said. No injuries were reported.
Police said the burning object may have been a road flare. There were no suspects, but one Oxnard police official speculated that a disgruntled taxpayer might be to blame.
“It is tax season,” said Cmdr. Ken Nishihara.
