Thousand Oaks resident Angela (Nellie) Aluknavich, who during World War II joined thousands of women working in the nation’s factories, died Thursday in St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. She was 83.
Mrs. Aluknavich worked in a Pennsylvania electronics plant during the war before moving to Connecticut, North Carolina and, eventually, Thousand Oaks.
“She didn’t talk much about her time during the war,” said Joan Bouffard of Thousand Oaks, her daughter.
In addition to Bouffard, she is survived by daughter Linda Riley of Waterbury, Conn.; a son, Anthony Aluknavich of Houston; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Thousand Oaks.
