GIRLS’ ROUNDUP : Newbury Park Extends Streak to 26 With Victory

Kara McKeown scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Julie Wastell added 11 points and six assists to lead Newbury Park to a 67-57 victory over Santee Santana in the Southern California Regional Division III championship game at The Pond of Anaheim.
The Panthers (31-1) extended their winning streak to 26 in a row and controlled the offensive rebounding. Newbury Park outrebounded Santana, 53-30.
Kelly Simers, a sophomore from Santana (32-2), scored 12 points in the first half on 3-for-7 shooting from beyond the three-point line.
Newbury Park had led most of the first half by as many as 12 points, but Simers’ shooting propelled the Sultans to a 27-26 halftime lead.
DIVISION IV
Cerritos Valley Christian (22-3) vs. Santa Ynez (30-1)--The game was postponed because of rain and was scheduled to be played Tuesday and a time and site to be announced.
DIVISION V
El Cajon Christian 52, Julian 46--Stephanie Shadwell had 16 points and nine rebounds and Jenny Wenning had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots (32-3) over the Eagles (31-4) to the Regional Division V title at Cal State Fullerton.
This will be El Cajon Christian’s fifth trip in a row to the finals.
