PREP ROUNDUP : Servite Boys Set a First in Winning Volleyball Event

Tournament most valuable player Ryan Schley had 20 kills and Christian Ponce 33 assists to lead Servite (1-1) to a 15-7, 13-15, 15-13 victory over Laguna Hills Saturday in the championship match of the Santa Ana boys’ volleyball tournament.
The victory marked the first time in school history that Servite advanced past the opening round of a boys’ volleyball tournament.

In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Orangewood Academy 3, Mary Star 0--Senior middle blocker Micah Lloyd had 11 kills to lead the Spartans (4-0) to a 15-6, 15-7, 15-3 victory.
In a Newport Elks baseball tournament consolation game:
Corona Del Mar 8, Santa Ana Valley 5--Myles Davis went 3 for 4 with two runs and Chad Johnson was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in for host Corona Del Mar (2-1-1).

In nonleague baseball:
Pacifica 10, Orange 7--Jeff Barndollar went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for visiting Pacifica (2-3).
