NEWPORT BEACH : Elementary School to Put On ‘Oklahoma!’
- Share via
Harbor View Elementary School students will offer four performances of the musical “Oklahoma!” as a fund-raiser for school activities.
More than 50 students are involved in the production, either on the stage or behind the scenes. Directors are acting teachers Kerri Vickers and Heather DeMichelle; musical accompaniment is by community volunteer Sally Edmonds.
Parents have worked and made donations to mount the production as an extracurricular activity “despite Newport-Mesa Unified (School District) budget cuts and current bankruptcy problems,” parent Mary Helen Frake-Minar said.
The stage program is in its second year. Last year, students performed “Alice in Wonderland.”
The shows will be at 3 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Little Theatre at Corona del Mar High School, 2101 Eastbluff Drive, Newport Beach. To purchase tickets in advance, call Joan Holmes at (714) 721-9521 or Tammy Delano at (714) 721-4146.
