Fullerton : Naming of Facilities to Stay Unrestricted
- Share via
City Councilman Chris Norby has failed to get his council colleagues to consider adopting restrictions on the naming of public facilities.
“I thought it would be helpful to have guidelines for naming places,” Norby said, pointing out the public scrutiny over some county facilities that have been named after Orange County supervisors.
He said he opposes having public places such as airport terminals and parks named after elected officials, especially if they are still in office or still alive but no longer in office.
Mayor Julie Sa and Councilmen Don Bankhead and Peter Godfrey said they would prefer having no restrictions when deciding what to name a public park, building, street of other facility.
