Coach: Sue Hall (eighth year).
1994: 21-6-1, 12-1-1 in the Garden Grove League. Lost in second round of Division I playoffs to Foothill, 3-1.
Key returners: Alicia Dowland, SS/LF, So.; Jennifer Glass, OF, So.; Erryn Gutjahr, 1B, Sr.; Summer Perkins, 3B, Sr.; Jamie Pietranowicz, LF, Sr.; Lisa Pitt, P/SS, Sr.; Leslie Prochaska, RF, Jr.
Key newcomers: Kelly Bunker, C, Fr.; Michelle Cross, CF, Fr.; Nicole Crouse, SS/2B, Fr.
Outlook: The Fighting Irish lost a lot with the graduation of shortstop/second baseman Laurie Fritz (UCLA) and catcher Joy Hannifin (New Mexico), but they still are credible threats to win the section title because of Times All-County player of the year Pitt (16-2, 138 strikeouts, 0.37 ERA, six no-hitters, two perfect games, .333, 12 RBIs in the regular season). She is being recruited by Arizona--the defending NCAA champion. In addition to outstanding pitching (Dowland had three no-hitters and two perfect games), Kennedy has solid defense and good team speed. Kennedy’s weakness is its youth.
