Attack on Catholicism Doesn’t Faze Believer
- Share via
Since I am a lifelong Roman Catholic, reading about John MacArthur’s negative views of Catholicism obviously did not make my day. I suppose The Times did me a favor by not specifying exactly why MacArthur views Christians like myself as followers of a “false religion.”
On the other hand, I was not particularly disturbed about the view of him and other like-minded Protestants. From my personal experience as a Catholic and Christian, being among fellow Catholics for many years and learning of other Protestant religions, I have no reason to worry about such wrongheaded opinions.
Of course, I do not despise these detractors of Catholicism. Jesus was very clear about what to do with the MacArthurs of the world: Pray for them, gently let them know about your disagreement (hence, this letter) and continue going about your business of being a good Christian.
