A 23-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded during a confrontation early Wednesday with a group of youths in an Oxnard alley, police said.
Mario Almada and two friends were in an alley on the 1100 block of North H Street in Oxnard about 1 a.m. Wednesday when five or six young men confronted them, police said.
As Almada tried to run from the scene, he was shot in the back and neck. He later was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was in serious condition Wednesday at the hospital’s intensive-care unit.
Police say they have no motive or suspect for the shooting, but believe it may have been gang-related. Oxnard’s gang-intervention unit is investigating.
