ACTON — A 24-year-old man was thrown from his car and killed Wednesday night after swerving the car off the road at over 80 m.p.h., authorities said.
The Healdsburg resident, who was not identified because his relatives had not yet been notified, was driving on Sierra Highway near Penman Road about 8:30 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Michelle Esposito.
The car swerved onto the south side of the road and then skidded into a ravine, Esposito said. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car, Esposito said.
The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where he died about an hour later, Esposito said.
