PACOIMA — Police arrested a 19-year-old Arleta resident on suspicion that he killed a 25-year-old Panorama City man sitting in a parked van.
Shakir Ughdah, arrested Thursday, allegedly walked up to the van that Thomas Steen was sitting in on Feb. 23 and shot Steen in the torso, Detective Marshall White said.
Ughdah was spotted by patrol officers in Pacoima as he walked near the Simi Valley Freeway, White said.
When officers called out to him, Ughdah fled, tossing a gun over a fence, White said. Officers caught up with him after a couple of blocks and arrested him, White said. The officers also recovered the gun, he said.
