NEWPORT BEACH : Planners Approve 245-Unit Condo Project

The Planning Commission has approved an Irvine Co. project that would add 245 condominiums to the Newport Center area.
The plan, approved without discussion this week, also calls for a clubhouse and guardhouse for the complex at 875 San Clemente Drive.
The project is expected to proceed unless objections are filed within 30 days.
Irvine Co. would offer the apartments for rent, company officials said.
The project would be on Santa Barbara Drive across from the Newport Harbor Art Museum and the former central library.
It would face the Newport Beach Country Club and the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club.
Other surrounding buildings are office complexes.
