Motorola to Increase Its Investment: The Schaumburg, Ill.-based electronics firm said it will boost its investments in China to $1.2 billion by 2000, the official New China News Agency reported. As of the end of 1994, Motorola Inc. had invested $280 million in China. Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd. said the expansion will include a $360-million investment in its Tianjin factory, where it makes pagers and mobile telephones, the agency said. An advanced semiconductor factory is also planned. Motorola will push the domestic content of its components to 50% from the current 30% and increase its work force to 10,000 from 3,300, the agency said.
