The City Council has approved rate adjustments for cable television customers of Cox Cable Orange County Inc., including a $1.62 increase in the cable installation fee and decreases for some other services.
The rate changes, which are regulated by the FCC, were approved by the City Council on Wednesday. They went into effect April 1, pending final city review.
Under the rate adjustments, the monthly basic service fee increases 18 cents, from $13.24 to $13.42. But the charge for a converter rental drops 86 cents per month, from $1.91 to $1.05, and the charge for a remote control decreases 10 cents, from 16 cents to 6 cents.
The rate adjustments were requested by Dimension Cable Services before the company merged with Cox Cable and changed names earlier this month.
