Orange County Chamber of Commerce and Industry: The Irvine-based business group completed its merger Friday with the Industrial League of Orange County, as the combined organization voted to change its name to the Orange County Business Council. The change takes effect Monday.
“This is final step in a yearlong evolution,” said Wayne Wedin, the development consultant who will be the combined group’s chairman. “The Orange County Business Council merges . . . with a mandate by its members to advocate a strong economy and increased job opportunities.”
The new organization will represent about 2,000 local businesses and 300,000 workers.
