Jenny Fricke, El Toro midfielder, has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at the University of San Francisco, her mother, Shelly, said Tuesday.
Fricke did not play this season because of a broken leg she initially suffered in November. As a junior, Fricke was a second-team All-Southern Section Division I selection and first-team All-South Coast League selection. She also was named to all-league teams in volleyball and softball.

Mark Rehling has been hired as the football coach at Marina, Athletic Director Larry Doyle said.
Rehling, a graduate of Marina and Long Beach State, has been an assistant and lower-level coach for the Vikings since 1972. He was a varsity assistant the past three years.
Rehling, who is an English teacher at Marina, replaces Dave Thompson, who resigned at the end of the season.

Jeff Osterode has resigned after three seasons as Rancho Alamitos baseball coach, Athletic Director Dan Rankin said. The resignation is effective at the end of the baseball season.
Rancho Alamitos is 4-16, 2-7 in the Garden Grove League. Rankin said Osterode, who was a walk-on coach, wants to spend more time with his family. Rankin said the school hopes to select a successor by June 9, when the school year ends.
