Southern California Leads Tennis Regional

COSTA MESA — Southern California College took a narrow lead over Point Loma Nazarene on the first day of the NAIA Far West Regional men’s tennis championships Thursday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Club.
The Vanguards have 10 points. Point Loma has nine and Westmont has seven.
Fourth-seeded David Robbins, Ross Andel and Matt Scott each won two singles matches and Robbins and Mattias Johansson, the top-seeded doubles team, won for the Vanguards.
Johansson, the third-seeded singles player, lost to Allen Jurlina of Westmont, 5-7, 7-6, 6-4.
Play continues at 9 a.m. today and the finals are Saturday.
