The second annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women to raise money and awareness to help fight breast and ovarian cancer will get underway Saturday at Fox Studios, 10201 W. Pico Blvd.
Sponsored by the Permanent Charities of the Entertainment Industries, the 5K event features actors Melanie Griffith and Pierce Brosnan as co-hosts along with singer Sheena Easton and Revlon models Vendela, Karen Duffy and Veronica Webb.
Proceeds will be donated to the Revlon UCLA Cancer Research Program, the Santa Monica-based Wellness Community and the Watts Health Foundation Mobile Mammography Center.
Brosnan, now starring as the new James Bond, lost his wife to breast cancer.
“It’s not only a woman’s issue, it’s about families. For the men who love the women it strikes, we all have a stake in this matter,” he said.
Over 10,000 participants are expected; organizers hope to raise more than $500,000.
Walk-up registrants will be accepted up to 7:30 a.m. and the run/walk will begin at 9 a.m.
