SANTA CLARITA — Police are searching for the person or persons who vandalized 28 new cars at a Valencia dealership during the weekend.
The vandalism occurred between 7:30 a.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Magic Ford, located in an auto mall on Creekside Road, according to a report by Deputy Brian Goodwin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
In what deputies believe was probably a separate incident, two sports-utility vehicles worth a combined total of about $70,000 were stolen from the same dealership on Sunday morning, according to the report.
Sheriff’s deputies said they had not yet established a motive for the vandalism, but were considering the possibility that it might have been a revenge act.
“It could be anything, like a customer who was not happy with their work,” said Sgt. Howard Fairchild.
The hoods and front fenders of the vehicles were scratched with lines and X marks, Goodwin noted in the report. Total damage was estimated at about $13,000.
