FULLERTON — One man was in custody and another was in critical condition after an argument ended with one man shooting another in the stomach, police said Sunday.
Lloyd Churchill, 47, of Fullerton, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly argued with and then shot James McHaney, 38, of Fullerton, said Fullerton Police Sgt. Danny Becerra.
McHaney was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was in critical condition, Becerra said.
Both men had argued for about an hour at Churchill’s residence inside the complex, in the 1800 block of W. Commonwealth Avenue, before the shooting occurred about 4:50 p.m., Becerra said.
When officers arrived, they found McHaney shot. Becerra said Churchill surrendered to police. A handgun which police believed was used in the shooting was recovered.
